Daniel Farke accepts the criticism Norwich City have short-changed home fans this season, after hailing the 'outstanding' show of support from a huge season ticket take-up for 2018/19.

City announced on Friday more than 20,000 fans are already on board for the next campaign, and Farke knows he has to deliver more entertainment at Carrow Road.

Norwich have won only six Championship home games this season, ahead of Aston Villa's televised visit on Saturday.

'We want to win each and every game.

'We want to entertain them and we know perhaps the best performances have been on the road,' said Farke.

'In the recent home games we were there with much better performances but still struggling a bit in scoring goals.

'We want more wins, to win more points and especially to score more goals.

'To have that level of support is outstanding. The whole region not just the city is behind this club. Sometimes because it is so emotional and passionate it means it is not so easy.

'After a loss, it feels like the world goes down and it is a disaster and when we win, like Reading, it was more like perhaps we can get promoted again and then the next thing we win the Premier League.

'Perhaps it is a little bit too much in both directions but that is what we are all searching for.

'You want the support in those numbers.

'Each and every other club in the Championship would love this support. For me, it might not easy managing the expectations but I am very thankful for the support.'

Farke insists there are mitigating factors for the fitful productivity.

'I have never complained or used excuses but you have to say we have had a lot of injury problems to key players,' he said.

'That makes it harder to come into the rhythm and be strong at home.

'Then in January you got the feeling with Alex Pritchard back in the side, after we scored three goals for the first time in the league at home, then we had to sell him.

'That was a big loss for the squad in terms of the quality.

'We signed some really good young players, and that is a compliment to Stuart Webber, but you felt they needed time to adapt.

'Moritz Leitner was outstanding, Onel Hernandez was outstanding and we lose them both to injury.

'To play games against high quality sides without these lads does not help us to entertain our supporters.

'We have had to struggle and that is what we have done and will try to do.'
