Daniel Farke revealed at Colney Hoolahan is suffering with a hip problem, while Jerome has seen a back specialist in Birmingham in recent days.

“Wes has been struggling in the last two weeks,” said Farke. “He’s had a hip problem which has affected his groin. We have many players fit so we wanted to sort it this week.

“He did individual stuff this week and won’t be in the squad for tomorrow. It’s not a long-term thing though. We have four games within nine days and that’s not so easy with the load so we hope we can have him back for one or two of these games.

“He will return pretty soon.

“We have had some problems with Cameron. He had to go in early from training on Tuesday because he has had problems with his back. After checking him yesterday, we sent him to see his osteopath in Birmingham. He wasn’t with us yesterday but he was much better today.

“He did some individual stuff today so is not available for tomorrow. Like Wes, he will return soon.”

Captain Ivo Pinto is fit for duty, despite nursing a hamstring problem that required treatment in the second half of the 1-0 Championship defeat at Leeds United.

“He’s available,” said Farke. “We were concerned after the Leeds game because he’s had problems in recent weeks.

“However, he’s developed pretty well. Perhaps it will be longer term problem with his hamstring. We rested him on Tuesday but he was back in training yesterday. There is no problem for Friday.”

James Husband (groin) is targeting a return after the Bees’ visit, which could pave the way for Jamal Lewis to be included in the squad for the first time since recovering from a knee injury.

“He had an injection on Monday and didn’t train Tuesday. He did a part-programme yesterday with the team staff and it will be too early to rotate him back into the squad this week.”

“Jamal Lewis is close. I’m not sure he’ll be in the squad every game (over the festive period(. Jamal is close and there’s a good chance he’ll be in the squad.”

Matt Jarvis, Remi Matthews and Louis Thompson remain longer absentees.
