Defiant Daniel Farke insists Norwich City put themselves back in the Premier League survival mix after a 1-0 win over Leicester City on Friday night.

Jamal Lewis' first league goal of his career sealed a priceless victory at Carrow Road to move within four points of safety, ahead of weekend league games for some of their survival rivals.

Farke knows it is still a long shot but the bottom-placed Canaries will never give up.

"Let people write us off. It is natural because we are in the worst position in the table," he said. "We are the only club in the Premier League to have spent less than £1m in transfer fees.

"Then you add the injuries, but we have more than 20 points with 10 games to go. We know the road is long and we are still the biggest underdog but we are back in the mix.

"When you still have a chance and you are not back in the Championship after 28 league games then you must carry on. We must show pride, belief and stick together. We know we are heading in the right direction.

"A third clean sheet in six, two wins in three at home and a battling display against Liverpool. We still have chances to win points and everything is possible."

Lewis crashed home Max Aarons' cross, after the hosts got the benefit of an earlier VAR decision that ruled Kelechi Iheanacho handled the ball before firing past Tim Krul.

"It felt like this was the first time we had a bit of luck. Although it was not luck," said Farke. "During the game it felt like it had touched his hand. The rule is clear, if it touches the hand of the forward, it is disallowed.

"I was delighted for Jamal. He had a tough season for his first one in the Premier League. He had to adapt, he had to wait on the sidelines. It is not easy when you have missed 10 or 11 games and come back for Liverpool or Leicester.

"He was solid in terms of his defending and he added an end product.

"We spoke about how we needed our full backs to play high and take risks and the goal underlined that. Max with a top class assist and Jamal producing some magic with his left foot.

"When you deliver against one of the sides competing for the Champions League, and to finish runner up, then it is good for the belief. It shows we can win points whoever we play. It is good for the confidence and the belief."
