Helsinki is making plans to bring the Pukki Party to life, with Norwich City helping Finland gear up for a potentially epic celebration later this month.

Canaries striker Teemu Pukki has become a cultural icon in Finland thanks to his superb international form firing the nation to the verge of qualification for their first ever major tournament.

The Finns host minnows Liechtenstein in Helsinki on Friday, November 15 (5pm UK time), knowing that victory will seal second place in Group J.

Pukki's team are on 15 points after eight games, with leaders Italy already qualified after winning all of their matches. Armenia and Bosnia & Herzegovina are five points behind Finland with two games to play.

The former Celtic, Schalke and Sevilla striker has been pivotal to that success, with seven goals in eight qualifiers meaning just four players have scored more in Euro 2020 qualification so far.

Eran Zahavi of Israel leads the way with 11, ahead of Artem Dzyuba of Russia on nine and England duo Harry Kane and Raheem Sterling on eight.

Pukki is tied with Portugal superstar Cristiano Ronaldo on seven goals, as well as Fulham and Serbia striker Aleksandar Mitrovic.

In total the 29-year-old has scored 46 goals in 70 games for club and country since leaving Brondby in the summer of 2018 to join Norwich on a free transfer, going on to be named Championship Player of the Season and to win the division's golden boot after 29 league goals.

He has continued to shoot up City's all-time scoring charts with six goals from his opening 10 Premier League games and now the Canaries are putting on a 'Pukki Party' at the Apollo Live Club in Helsinki.

The nightclub's event will kick-off at 10pm, costing 12 euros each or 10 euros for those with a ticket from the game, with VIP tickets for 35 euros including a free drink and a 'No Pukki, No Party' t-shirt.

Should qualification not be sealed that day by the Finns then another opportunity awaits in Greece on Monday, November 18 (7.45pm), although should Armenia and Bosnia fail to win their first games of the international break that would also seal the deal.

Finland are also guaranteed a play-off place already, having won their Uefa Nations League group last year.

Pukki has scored 22 goals in 77 matches for Finland, placing him third in his nation's all-time scoring list behind Ajax legend Jari Litmanen (25) and former Chelsea striker Mikael Forssell (28), who are both now retired.
