Daniel Farke joked he wants James Maddison to take plenty of time off between now and the transfer deadline after his stunning 25-yard winner.

Maddison has been touted with a number of Premier League clubs during a fevered January window and the England U21 international underlined his quality with a superb goal in the Canaries' 1-0 Championship win.

Farke reiterated afterwards at Griffin Park he expects a quiet end to the transfer scramble between now and next Wednesday's deadline - particularly regarding his prized asset.

'I was thinking of giving him several days off and meeting at the end of next week but we have to work further on,' he said. 'We need him the next few days. We know there are a lot of rumours, ideas and interest in the transfer window.

'This has been a busy window but I am looking forward to four quiet days between now and the deadline.

'Yes, I think we started very well.

'We were on the front foot and we create many chances on the counter and set pieces. From one of those we were able to lose.

'James had an outstanding strike. It is a sign of his quality but I am a bit sad we are not able to use one more of our chances in the first half.

'That would help to calm the game down. It was a pretty long second half.

'It was a pretty difficult week for us because several lads left and we brought in new ones pretty late in the week.

'It is not so easy then to focus a group on the most important, which is playing football. We had several injuries.

'Tom Trybull and Mario Vrancic are important for us, Ivo Pinto, our captain, is not here.

To go to Brentford, who were on fire and in pretty good shape, and to win 1-0 and keep a clean sheet with some outstanding defensive behaviour was so good.

'A big compliment for this performance and result.'
