Alex Pritchard and Wes Hoolahan in the same side? Simple says Norwich City’s two-goal forward – even if his Nottingham Forest goals weren’t quite as spectacular as those of his team-mates

On a more run of the mill afternoon, Alex Pritchard would have had the headlines to himself.

On a more run of the mill afternoon, Alex Pritchard would have had the headlines to himself.

A lovely burst forward and ruthless right-foot finish, before taking a touch and sending a lovely swirling left-foot shot just inside Jordan Smith’s far post were two smashing goals.

It’s just that the magic first-half spell cast by Jonny Howson and Wes Hoolahan will anything but run of the mill.

“Mine were the worst,” smiled Pritchard. “Look, a goal is a goal – but Wes’ and Jonny’s goals are fantastic.

“I’m going to edge it towards Jonny’s (being best), for the way it’s come out of the sky and he’s just picked it up. It’s brilliant. But don’t take anything away from Wes’. The first touch to set it up and then he’s hit it. It was going in all the way.

“Josh (Murphy) too. All the goals were… Well, mine we’re all right. The second one, on the left foot? It was lovely wasn’t it. Little bobble, teed it up nicely for himself. You just take them when they come. There were goals to be scored in this one – and we did it.

“I don’t think I’ve ever played in a game with so many cracking goals. It was amazing. Hopefully we can do it again on Tuesday.”

Pritchard agreed Saturday was his most enjoyable day in a Norwich shirt to date, following his summer move from Tottenham.

And he did it alongside Wes Hoolahan, as the pair tormented Nottingham Forest with almost ruthless regularity.

“It’s difficult,” admitted Pritchard, who also got the chance to play centrally against Forest. “When you play me and Wes together, at times it hasn’t worked. You see at Brighton we lose 5-0, with me and Wes in the team and what not.

“But we’ve had a little chat about it and we’ve just got to move off each other. We know what we both can do.

“I know that we’re similar but like you saw here, we played together and we moved the ball well. That’s what happens.

“If I get played in a position, I play in that position – but it was nice, playing in the 10 role and getting on the half-turn. I thought I did that well.

“But it’s simple. If Wes goes infield to press, I’ll just go out on the left. It’s no problem. We’ll just switch over and do our own thing.”
