Norfolk's Federation bowlers had a successful week at the EBF National Championships at Newark, returning with five trophies.

Pride of place goes to Steven Winter from King's Lynn, who won the men's singles. He was in superb form all week and ran out winner by 21 shots to 9 against L Rowland from North Essex in the final. Winter was also involved in the mixed pairs with his partner A Royal, again reaching the final only to lose by one shot against a pair from Cleveland.

The second success was in the mixed rinks, where Barbara Meeks, Rob Parker and Dennis Goodley from Acle were in fine form. They were comfortable winners in all their games, including the final where they took on local rivals from Suffolk. The final score was 21 shots to 10 in favour of the Norfolk Trio. Not to be outdone, Norfolk ladies were also successful in two competitions. The county team won the Harry Carver Trophy, winning all four of their games with a plus of 56 shots.

The ladies pairing of J Buxton and J Morrison from Pinewood Park produced some superb bowls on their way to winning the Joan Robinson Rose Bowls, beating a pair from Derbyshire 22-16 in the final.

These successes lead to Norfolk winning the Stuart Waites Memorial Trophy, which is awarded to the most successful county.
