Schoolboy Liam Hurrell is stepping up in class as he pursues his karting dreams.

The Broadland High School pupil, who lives at Hoveton, will move up to the junior TKM national superone series where he will hope to compete in the British championship. The 12-year-old has been competing at Rye House and Ellough Park in the Honda cadet kart championships for the past year, collecting 22 podium places and more than 30 race wins to win both championships.

'To win one would have been great, but to double up and win both was unthinkable,' said dad Steve, who is now keen to earn sponsorship to help Liam. 'It was made even sweeter over the last four meetings at Ellough when Liam has won all the heats and finals to take maximum points which had almost sealed the championship before going into the last round. At Rye House he finished third in his final outing, enough to win the championship.'
