Dereham's wheelchair athletics star Will Smith took gold in the Junior Great North Wheelchair Race, in Newcastle.
The teenager won over the one-mile course on the quayside in a personal best time of 3 minutes 46 seconds – more than half a second quicker than his time in the same event last year.
The race completes Smith's athletics season, and he now switches attention to wheelchair basketball as Norwich Lowriders prepare for their 2010-11 season, which starts on Saturday against Milton Keynes Aces.
