Norwich City yesterday offered one-year professional contracts to academy duo George Francomb and Josh Dawkin.

The second-year scholars have been rewarded after forcing their way into Paul Lambert's first team squad this season.

Right-back Francomb has made three first team appearances in total - the 18-year-old's debut coming in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy win at Gillingham in October. Wide player Dawkin also made his debut in the cup win over the Gills and has featured in the first team twice more.

Fellow academy products Tyree Clarke and Johnbull Osemwegie have not been offered pro deals and are free to leave in the close season.

Meanwhile, Norwich City will receive prize money should they complete the job and finish this season as League One champions - but not a lot.

Being crowned English football's third tier champions would be worth an extra 25,000, with the team joining them in the Championship as runners-up receiving 10,000, the Football League has confirmed.

There is no direct prize money for reaching, or indeed winning, the play-offs - although clubs will gain extra gate receipts, especially from a Wembley final.

Every League One club receives 640,000 for participating in the division - the financial equity being a staunch principal of the Football League, and a completely different tack to the Premier League's structure where a club's share of the money increases the higher you finish in the table.

City have been in receipt of regular instalments through the season for competing in League One, while the extra prize money for finishing first or second, all being well, will be awarded in the summer.

The Football League's payments for next season are yet to be decided but, as an indicator, Championship sides each received 2.5m regardless of their final league position this season.

However, the prize money still remains modest in the second tier with the division winners receiving another 50,000 and second place earning 25,000.

Of course, promotion from the Championship is also worth a ticket to the Premier League's millions - for a season, at least.
