The conditions on the dual carriageway course south of Wymondham were warm and sunny, but the general view was that the wind was moving about and not helpful. Course records were not approached - Laura Gambling retained her women's championship, but at 2:6:46 was four minutes slower than her record ride last year.
Some local riders opted to take part in the Eastern Counties CA 100 mile event just across the Cycling Time Trials District boundary. Conditions on the Newmarket bypass course were good at first, but the temperature - 27 degrees by 9.30 am - and increasing wind made the last southbound legs back to Fourwentways and Hinxton tough.
The Norwich Bike Shop-sponsored Team Pedal Revolution scored an extraordinary 1-2-3 win with Andy Bason (3:37:16), Nik Bowdler (3:41:17) and Mark Arnold (3:41:48) - this last time a personal best by eight minutes. Another personal best was the 4:22:29 from Steve Rush (North Norfolk Wheelers).
On the Lotus circuit, Liam Gentry (VC Baracchi) won the main race - a handicap. He took a sprint win from Martin Hunter (Colchester Rovers) and Dan Zagni (Ipswich BC). Highly placed local riders included Chris Guy (EST/City College, fifth) Mike Auger (VC Norwich sixth) Mark Westrup (VC Baracchi, seventh) and Chris Bartlett (VC Norwich, eighth).
