Broadland Hockey Club held their presentation day after their final match of the season which saw their second team clinch promotion to the Premier Division of the Norfolk Empresa League.

Helen Brockington and Helen Kelly were jointly award the first team players' player of the season award. Abi Dennison took the honour for the second team and Amelia Anema for the thirds. Anema also collected the Tracey Buxton Memorial Trophy for her outstanding season.

Brockington was the leading scorer in the first team with 23 goals while Nikki Kent scored 13 for the seconds and Wendy Anema 14 for the thirds.

Ian White was highest scorer for the Exiles while captain Simon Nesbit was awarded the Taylor Trophy for his outstanding efforts to support the club the pitch. About 50 members, family and friends enjoyed a pleasant afternoon and game of hockey.

Broadland II won 5-0 at Carrow to leapfrog Diss, who had completed their programme, and secure second spot in Empresa Norfolk League Division One behind champions Pelicans II.

The visitors set about their task with great commitment and drive, playing some outstanding hockey. Broadland converted a penalty corner after five minutes when star player Dennison diverted Dani Parke's goal bound effort past the keeper. Dennison increased Broadland's grip on the game minutes later with a tremendous run and powerful finish.

Broadland continued to bombard the Carrow goal and went further ahead when Nat Brooks' fierce strike found a way through the keeper.

After the break Brooks got the slightest of touches for her second and Broadland's fourth goal of the game and Sarah Craig then made some good saves before Tamsin Highfield finished off an incisive counter-attack in the dying seconds to make it five.

Broadland's first team completed their fixtures in the top flight the previous Monday with a 12-0 romp at relegated Norwich Dragons V. They finished third in the table, four points behind Norwich City II and 10 adrift of champions Dragons III, who move up to the East League

Loddon's 3-1 win at bottom side UEA II completed the programme on Saturday.
