The Classic Sports Car Club begin their season with the traditional Snetterton meeting this weekend, with a mixture of classic sports and saloon cars plus a sprinkling of modern machinery.

Traditionally Honda Civic Type Rs rule the Tin Top series and that's something that Fressingfield's Carl Chambers hopes to put a stop to with his Peugeot 306 Rallye. Richard Field, from Downham Market, brings his Proton Persona along to add variety, with Lodden's Kevin Stirling hoping for success in the concurrent Ford Fiesta ST section.

The Classic K Series pits the locally-built nimble Lotus Elans against the potent TVR Granturas, with Bylaugh's Will Goff sharing the driving duties with father Michael in their Elan.

The Swinging Sixties events are always popular, with the Suffolk built Ginetta G4 of Mark Halstead/Stuart McPherson looking to fend off the hordes of chasing Lotus Elans in the Group Two event while Norwich's Malcolm Johnson races his Lotus Europa on home soil with the coveted #1 on his car.

Suffolk racer Tim Cairns is the one to beat in his Austin Healey Frogeye Sprite in Class A of the Group One race with Dereham's Stephen Atkinson, also Sprite mounted, hoping for a decent home performance.

Feltwell's Peter Challis will be a leading contender in the Arrowpak Porsche 997 in the New Millennium event but will face stiff opposition from the Steven Byrne/Jerry Bailey Aston Martin Vantage.

The Morgan Challenge will once more have a full grid, with the rest of the field probably looking at the back of Keith Alhers's potent V8 powered example.

It will be interesting to watch Rob Fenn's Honda NSX in the Open Series while Geoff Beale, in his potent Sunbeam Lotus, will frighten more expensive machinery.

In the past Tom Eden has defeated the rest of the Caterham-based Magnificent Seven field but a number of CRS mounted newcomers will want to take his scalp. Jim Utting/Richard Drake contest Class B of the Modern Classics series in their Alfa Romeo GTV but Porsche 996 mounted Peter Morris looks favourite for overall honours. Racing starts on 1pm on both days.
