Norwich midfielder Forson joins Israeli club on loan

The 23-year-old Ghanaian international was told he was free to leave Carrow Road this summer.

The transfer deadline in Israel closes on Wednesday, September 16.

There was also interest from Championship clubs Derby County and Blackburn Rovers, as well as clubs in Germany, Austria and Spain.

Hapoel Be'er Sheva have identified Forson as a replacement for Kings Kangwa, who moved to Panathinaikos.

His new club won their sixth Israeli league title in the 2024/25 campaign and will play in this season’s Uefa Europa League against the likes of Juventus, Bournemouth and Besiktas.

Forson joined City from Red Bull Salzburg in the summer of 2024 and has made 44 appearances for the club in all competitions.

He scored four Championship goals for the Canaries, most memorably against Coventry in January 2025, when he scored twice in time added on to earn City a dramatic 2-1 win at Carrow Road.

Forson follows Liam Gibbs and Jakov Medic out of Carrow Road on loan this week.

Central defender Medic completed a season-long move to Eredivisie side FC Utrecht, with the Dutch team holding an option to buy the Croat permanently next summer. Gibbs joined Championship rivals Preston on a deal until the end of the season.

During pre-season, City head coach Philippe Clement had made it clear the door was open for Forson and Medic.

"There is availability if there is a team who's interested in them, and it's a good deal for the club," he said. "Those are players who are available to go, but if it's not the case, they stay part of the group and they keep working hard.

"Where they are now, they are they are part of the group. But I see also realistically that there is a lot of competition in in their positions, and that they struggle to impose themselves the last couple of weeks."

City keeper Louie Moulden is also out on loan, Accrington, while Dylan Jones made a temporary move to Tranmere and winger Matej Jurasek moved to Sparta Prague for a year with an option to buy.
