Jonathan Rowe says he's struggled to come to terms with Norwich City's failure to get promoted this season, despite an encouraging campaign personally.

The 21-year-old looked short of match fitness in a 4-0 play-off semi-final humiliation at Leeds United's hands, after a hamstring injury ended his promising form in the first half of the 2023-24 season.

That loss left Rowe devastated as the Canaries' hopes of Premier League promotion came to a grinding halt, but he's started to move on from the defeat.

"Blood, sweat, pain, tears, relief, joy and feelings I can't even express have all gone into this season's challenge for promotion," he said.

"I can't even explain how bad I wanted the outcome to be different. I've struggled to accept it over the past few days, but I've now come to terms with it."

Those impressive individual performances have earned the Colney academy graduate national attention, from an England under-21 call-up to multiple EFL awards.

They've also resulted in a great deal of transfer speculation, with more than half of the top flight credited with an interest in Rowe.

Many Norwich fans fear they've seen the last of him in yellow and green, but he declined to directly address his future on his Instagram account, instead thanking those fans for their support.

"I wasn't going to say anything, but it felt right to come on here to express my gratitude towards everyone that's shown us support all the way from start to finish this season," he continued. "You've kept us going through the good and bad times, so thank you.

"On a side note, still a season to be proud of! I've been able to showcase my talent to the world properly this season and I'll work even harder to continuously improve!

"I pray I can also continue to be an inspiration to anyone else who's young, ambitious and has big goals. I always thank God for the position he's put me in."
