Norwich City youngster Joe Duffy has announced his scheduled departure from Carrow Road.

The 20-year-old signed his first professional with the club back in 2021 and saw City activate a year extension in their favour last May.

But that is set to come to an end, and Duffy will be departing his boyhood club after 12 years in the academy at Colney. The young winger has made 83 appearances combined for the U18s and U21s in the last four seasons.

Duffy, a former season ticket holder at Carrow Road, was scouted for City aged eight whilst playing for local side Costessey Sports and has been in the Canaries youth programme ever since.

Whilst he hasn't fulfilled his dream of making a senior appearance for his boyhood club, Norwich are confident he departs well-placed to establish a career in the game, as is the aim for all their young talent.

Duffy has made 14 Premier League Two appearances this season, netting on five occasions and scoring once. His last outing for City U21s came in a 2-0 defeat to West Ham last month.

He has become the first player to confirm he is set to depart the club this summer, with Alfie Pinyoun also expected to depart the club along a host of others who are trialling elsewhere as they search for a new club.

Dubem Eze has been on loan at Warrington and is understood to have interest from the Championship, as is Michael Reindorf who impressed on loan at Kettering Town.

Writing on Instagram, Duffy said: "Just wanted to say a massive thank you to Norwich City for the last 12 years.

"Unfortunately, my time has come to an end at this amazing football club, but I am so grateful for the opportunity I've been given and memories made along the way with all the players and staff.

"I wish everyone the best for the future. I will always love and support this club, and it will forever hold a place in my heart."

Norwich will confirm their official released and retained list at the end of the season, with Saturday's 1-0 defeat to Birmingham confirming their involvement in the play-offs.

They will face Leeds United in a two-legged play-off semi final to try and earn a shot at the Premier League.
