Hull boss Liam Rosenior and Middlesbrough chief Michael Carrick are unwilling to give up on their play-off dream, despite failing to make up ground on Norwich City on Wednesday.

The sides met at the MKM Stadium hoping to capitalise on the Canaries dropping points against struggling Sheffield Wednesday 24 hours earlier, but a 2-2 draw has done little to ignite their respective top six ambitions.

Hull have now failed to win at home for six matches and have lost ground in the top-six race. They have a game in hand over Norwich but would require them to slip up in their final four matches of the Championship campaign.

Rosenior is yet to give up the pursuit and challenged his team to take the race to the final day, despite the frustrations of their draw with Boro.

“One hundred per cent," Rosenior told the Yorkshire Post when asked if their top six hopes were still alive."We dropped two points here through our performance, but we need to take it to the wire and have the opportunity to take it to the last day.

"We know anything can happen in football on the last day; it’s unbelievable. Norwich have some tough games, and we have.

"But honestly, if we learn our lessons. We have to be perfect, not just by winning five games, but managing moments."

Carrick repeated a similar message after the draw, but with a six-point gap, no game in hand and an inferior goal difference to the Canaries, it looks like an outside chance for them to displace David Wagner's side.

“Of course, we are (in it still), yes, 100 per cent," he told reporters after Wednesday night's draw.

"It’s pretty obvious we’ve got to win the next game. Nothing has changed from (Tuesday) night.

“Norwich are in that place, and they took a point, we took a point, and Hull took a point.”

City took a point from Hillsborough on Tuesday night after squandering a two goal lead, but have gained a point in the top six race.

With four games of the season remaining, they are five points ahead of Coventry and Saturday's opponent Preston and are in pole position to secure a play-off spot.
