Norwich City duo David Wagner and Gabby Sara have been shortlisted for the Championship manager and player of the month awards for March.

Ipswich Town counterparts Kieran McKenna and attacking full back Leif Davis also make the divisional shortlists.

City won last weekend’s Championship derby 1-0 at Carrow Road to prolong the Blues’ wait for a win the fixture, which now dates back to April 2009.

Former Norwich City boss Daniel Farke makes the list at current club Leeds, with West Brom’s Carlos Corberan completing the quartet.

Sara and Davis are up against Coventry City’s freescoring striker, Ellis Simms and West Brom’s on-loan Celtic wide player Mikey Johnston.

Norwich won four of their five league games in March, with the only blip coming at Middlesbrough in a 3-1 away defeat that saw Borja Sainz red carded, before the Canaries successfully overturned his dismissal on appeal.

The judging panel citation for the Norwich head coach reads: ‘Juggling injuries has been a theme of Wagner’s season. Through them he has improved Norwich’s consistency as well as their attacking threat, pairing 12 points with 12 goals from five March games to move into the play-off positions.’

Sara has produced 22 goal contributions in 42 league appearances this season to mark him out as one of the Championship’s most creative influences. The 24-year-old Brazilian scored three goals in March, including a goal-of-the-season contender in the 5-0 rout of Rotherham.

His citation reads: ‘Shifted from his usual deeper role to a wider attacking one because of injuries to others, Sara’s impact was just as keen, scoring three goals by arriving late in the box and adding three assists with his vision and crisp set-piece delivery.’

The former Sao Paulo prospect was also on target at Leicester City on Easter Monday, but missed a big chance to add to his goal tally in the frustrating midweek 2-2 draw at Sheffield Wednesday.

The judging panel, in association with Sky Bet, includes former Barnsley boss Danny Wilson and Sky Sports Football League pundit Don Goodman.

The winners will be announced on Friday.
