It is the shirt which kept a priceless Norwich City record intact.

And now the kit worn by Jonathan Rowe as he scored twice against rivals Ipswich Town to preserve the Canaries' 14-year unbeaten derby streak has sold for eye-watering fee.

The shirt was bought for more than £2,500 at auction - almost eight times the amount paid out for next highest-selling kit from the day.

Rowe - who is already said to be attracting big bids himself following his starring role for the Canaries this season - was the hero last month, when he bagged a brace at Portman Road in the 2-2 draw in the East Anglian derby.

Four shirts from the match were auctioned off by the club - those worn by Borja Sainz, Adam Idah, Ashley Barnes and Rowe.

And it was Rowe's that really attracted the bidders.

A total of 16 bids went in, sending the final price to £2,500 - far higher than most match-worn shirts auctioned off by the club.

By contrast, Idah's shirt from the Ipswich game went for £325.

Recently Rowe has been at the centre of transfer gossip, with speculation linking him to a bidding war between Tottenham Hotspur and Brighton and Hove Albion for the 20-year-old's signature in the January transfer window.

Negotiations have been delayed over a potential new contract for the Canaries' top goalscorer, whose current deal is set to run out in the summer of 2025.

Asked about the speculation surrounding him by BBC Radio Norfolk, Rowe said: "I'm trying to not let all that noise affect my football.

"We'll review it in the summer, but for now, I'll knuckle down, focusing on trying to get us back to the Premier League."
