Norwich City managed to escape the Portman Road cauldron with their derby day unbeaten streak intact, after drawing 2-2 with bitter rivals Ipswich Town.

A Jonathan Rowe double turned the game in their favour after Nathan Broadhead had opened the scoring, but Wes Burns' tidy finish earned the Tractor Boys a share of the spoils.

The game started with a traditionally cagey derby opening, but it wasn't long before the favourites found their stride in Suffolk.

Broadhead should have broken the deadlock when he slalomed through the Norwich defence and went one-on-one with Angus Gunn, but he inexplicably dinked wide of the far post.

The same men then missed from 15 yards after controlling Burns' cross, but he finally opened the scoring 34 minutes in with his third big opportunity.

That came via an Ipswich corner after so many of City's had threatened early on, the Blues winger bundling past Gunn after one of the hosts' broke to him.

But shortly thereafter, the shock equaliser came via the visitors' top scorer. Rowe had been quiet throughout the opening period, but found his magic moment when an overhead kick popped back up to him 10 yards out.

Perhaps it was the confidence of the nine goals he'd already scored, but the 20-year-old finished with coolness and aplomb to send the away end into raptures.

With Ipswich on the hunt for a second goal, half time came at a good time for David Wagner's men. They were on top when the game resumed, however, and made the most of it shortly after the break. Again it was that man Rowe, who drove under Vaclav Hladky to complete the turnaround.

But waves of Ipswich pressure followed, and in the 60th minute they found parity. It came via the dangerous Burns, who only needed a chink of light to fire into Gunn's bottom corner.

Broadhead very nearly found the opposite corner when he sent a curler goalward late on, but a sensational Gunn save denied what would have been a fine winner.

The draw means Norwich haven't lost the derby in nearly 15 years, with Kieran McKenna's men set to travel to Carrow Road in April.
