Angus Gunn hopes that Norwich City's dramatic late winner can be the start of a repair in relations between supporters, playing squad and head coach David Wagner.

It's been a fractious few months for the Canaries amid difficult spells of form, underpar performances and comments from senior figures that have left supporters enraged.

But a run of three wins in four matches has left them sitting four points outside the top six, even if performances have remained unconvincing. Matching the two together is now Norwich's next task.

Adam Idah's stoppage time winner at Ashton Gate was enough to secure three vital points and Gunn hopes it is the start of a repairing of relations.

"We want the fans to be happy and I understand that they are not at the moment. As players, we have to stay professional and try to do our work on the pitch," Gunn told the Pink Un.

"If we do that and keep picking points up, hopefully that will swing the mood around, and then we can be a tight unit with the fans again.

"I completely understand their frustrations - performances haven't been good enough on the pitch this season and it's our job to change that."

Norwich's run of form has seen them stabilise after losing four on the spin prior to that 3-2 victory away at Cardiff last month.

Despite the external noise and criticism, City's group have remained united and Gunn believes this run can be the foundations for further improvement.

"It means a lot to all of us. We are a very tight-knit group inside the training ground and in the dressing room.

"It wasn't a pretty performance, but if you can sustain the results, then they are (more important).

"That was the target. The manager showed us the stats from the last three games and what we could achieve if we won this game," Gunn said.

"From our point of view, it's been a very positive period of games. That was our target. By the skin of our teeth, we have achieved it. It was a really big win for us. At this stage, we need the points and take the wins from whenever they come from."
