Norwich City were beaten 2-0 by Championship promotion favourites Leicester City at Carrow Road.

The defeat means Norwich fall to fifth in the second division table, while Leicester rise to second.

Jack Stacey had the hosts' first big chance of the game just three minutes in, but his shot was palmed away by Mads Hermansen after Liam Gibbs found him in the box.

After increasing Leicester pressure Kelechi Iheanacho then capitalised, dispatching his penalty after Christian Fassnacht's foul on Stephy Mavididi.

The Foxes danger man nearly doubled the lead shortly before half-time, but the Canaries managed to escape a hectic period only one goal down.

Norwich started the second half brightly and had a penalty shout of their own midway through it, Dimitris Giannoulis going down under Wout Faes' challenge. Referee Graham Scott waved that claim away, however.

Abdul Fatawu’s 84th-minute cross found Kacey McAteer with an open goal to head into, but he lifted over the bar.

But he did find that goal only three minutes later, tapping into an empty net thanks to Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall’s selfless pass.

Norwich head to the south west to face Plymouth Argyle in less than three days' time, as they look to bounce back from their first home defeat of the campaign.
