Norwich City loan export Jonathan Tomkinson made his debut for Bradford City as they drew 1-1 with Grimsby Town.

The Bantams announced Tomkinson's season-long signing on Wednesday after a drawn-out EFL approval process, with manager Mark Hughes introducing the American for Sam Stubbs after 85 minutes.

Alex Gilliead found the equaliser for the hosts four minutes later, leaving them 16th in League Two. The Yorkshire side are just one point below Accrington Stanley in 15th, however, with their near neighbours losing 3-0 to Mansfield at home.

Tomkinson's fellow City defender Brad Hills played the full 90 minutes for Accrington, who have seen a positive start tail off with consecutive league defeats.

Norfolk-born Hills has impressed in Lancashire, however, being a constant in his loan club's starting XI having played his first professional minutes only last month.

Norwich under-21 Lewis Shipley is also on loan at the Wham Stadium, but is recovering from injury and wasn't part of the matchday squad.

A division lower in the National League, Flynn Clarke made his debut for Dagenham & Redbridge as they lost 3-1 at Chesterfield. He replaced Lewis Page in the 79th minute, but couldn't stop the Spireites completing a late comeback.

Sean Stewart failed to make the matchday squad as Cliftonville lost 3-0 to Raith Rovers in the Scottish Challenge Cup, while goalkeeper Archie Mair collected a clean sheet in National League Gateshead's 6-0 win at Eastleigh.

It wasn't as pleasing a weekend for another young Canaries goalkeeper, with Dylan Berry absent from Havant & Waterlooville's squad as they lost 3-1 to Truro City.

Berry began the season as the London club's first choice between the sticks, but conceded five goals in his first two league games and was benched for Ross Worner.

He's been absent from the club's last five matchday squads, with new manager Steve King replacing Jamie Collins, who brought him to the club.
