Norwich City midfielder Marcelino Nunez is being targeted by Brighton & Hove Albion for a move to the Premier League, according to reports from his native Chile.
Tribuna Deporte have claimed that the south coast club are in the market for a midfielder, with star man Alexis Mac Allister close to joining Liverpool for a fee of £35million.
They state that the Seagulls could turn to the City man, who arrived from Universidad Catolica last summer for around £3.3million and has endured a mixed first season in yellow and green.
The 23-year-old could cost Brighton around 20million Euros according to the report, or just over £17million by current exchange rates.
These would be welcome funds for the Norfolk club, who are seeking alternative means of boosting their transfer kitty with cash strapped and a significant overhaul of their squad planned.
Sporting Director Stuart Webber has spoken of the need to move prized asset Max Aarons on, while admitting there's been significant interest in player of the season Gabriel Sara and young centre-back Andrew Omobamidele, but a bid as significant as that would be difficult to turn down.
Nunez appeared focused on Norwich when interviewed by Reedgol, however, saying:Â "Next year I will have more goals. The first is to qualify for the Premier League.
"I am happy for the love (at Norwich), they are very nice fans. The people are humble and they show it in the stadium."
The 15-times-capped international played 39 games for City last season, scoring three times and making two assists.Â
His Chile side will face Cuba in a friendly on Monday, before meeting the Dominican Republic five days later and Bolivia on June 21.
Nunez has been selected for those fixtures and is likely to feature heavily despite a hectic 18 months of near-non-stop football.
