Results from yesterday’s William H Brown auction

This brick and flint cottage, almost completely hidden from view, was among the lots which went under the hammer yesterday at the William H Brown auction. Simon Arnes, managing director and auctioneer, reports on the results.

A bright and sunny day saw a packed room with bidders queuing up waiting to register so we had to delay the start.

We had a good selection of properties across East Anglia and there was a strong interest in a number of lots, as you’ll see from just a selection of results shown below.

We started with Lot 1, 72 Borrowdale Drive, Norwich, a three bedroom semi-detached house; there had been good interest, the guide started at £150,000 with the gavel falling at £168,000.

Lot 6, 15 Ellingham Road, Attleborough, a three bedroom detached bungalow, with a large garden, the guide started at £160,000 with the gavel falling at £172,000.

Lot 14, 46a Pauls Lane, Overstrand, a semi-detached one bedroom house, this is a nice location, the guide started at £95,000 with the gavel falling at £111,000.

Lot 19, Mill Cottage, Love Lane, Sporle, a detached two bedroom bungalow of non-standard construction ripe for re-development, guide started at £90,000, strong bidding saw the gavel fall at £105,000.

Lot 27, 12 Chatham Street, Norwich, a three bedroom, hall entrance terrace, guide started at £120,000, with strong interest the gavel fell at £139,000.

Lot 34, 4 Railway Cottages, Old Lakenham, a unique two bedroom detached brick and flint cottage with great potential, this property had been featured online and generated lots of interest, the guide started at £180,000 after strong bidding the gavel fell at £200,000.

Lot 37, Hillvue Close, Norwich, a three bedroom detached chalet bungalow in need of updating, the guide here started at £150,000 with the successful bidder seeing the gavel fall at £171,000.

Lot 44, 25 Cowgate, Norwich, a two bedroom mid terrace cottage in need of modernisation, the guide here started at £90,000, there were multiple buyers in the room, with the gavel falling at £130,500.

Lot 45, Cherry Tree Cottage, The Street, Long Stratton, a two bedroom end terrace cottage in need of complete renovation, guide started at £40,000, after multiple bidders the successful buyer saw the gavel fall at £74,000.

Lot 48, our last lot of the day, a five bedroom double bay fronted end terrace house, in need of full renovation, but with lots of potential; we expected strong interest and after a low guide of £90,000 there were more than 12 interested buyers in the room. The successful bidder saw the gavel fall at £180,500.

The above results just demonstrate some of the properties that were sold in the room.
