Plans for a drive-through KFC and Starbucks in the heart of the Postwick Hub have been recommended for approval by council officers.

Applicants Monte Blackburn and Pigeon Investments are seeking permission to build on a site to the east of Norwich, next to the A47 and A1042.

The land was previously used as a vehicle compound and for huts for the workers who built the junction.

The plans include a petrol station, a 33-space car park and a HGV car park with 24 spaces.

A report, which will go before Broadland District Council's planning committee on Wednesday, states any harm caused by the development is 'outweighed by the benefits' it will bring.

'Namely the redevelopment of a strategically located, disused site into a sustainable development,' the report added.

People living in nearby villages have raised concerns about increased traffic and congestion.
