Bespoke furniture does not have to break the bank, says interior designer Louise Ives-Wilkinson.

I know, I wouldn't have believed it either before I started designing but since creating bespoke furniture for our clients, I now know this is true!

At Louise Ives-Wilkinson Design we have always created bespoke interiors in collaboration with our clients, but for the past couple years now we have also been designing bespoke items of furniture for our commercial and residential clients.

Bespoke pieces can be important in order to achieve the best use of space and create the perfect environment for a client. This can be in a commercial environment such as a bar, restaurant, hotel, office, or in your own home.

In order to create our furniture designs, we work closely beside and in collaboration with Valdivian Furniture. Based in Norfolk the family run, local furniture maker headed by Liam and Father, Justin, can create pretty much anything we can design. Wood is their specialism and together we have created arm chairs, collaborative office desks and storage cabinets to name a few.

Bespoke is always the best option when clients have a specific requirement that is not catered for off the shelf. A recent office design project we worked on required a long stretch of chic storage cabinets but as nothing on the market was visually appealing or suitable I designed a pair of matching cabinets with some beautiful details which will never be seen anywhere else.

So here are my top tips on why you should choose bespoke:

1. Custom - Every detail can be tailored to you and your requirements. Think chairs designed to your exact ergonomics, wood carvings which mean something to you or just the perfect padding for your posterior!

2. Investment – Having a bespoke piece designed specifically for you is something that you will never look to replace. It will be an item which is treasured and eventually handed down through generations to become a family heirloom, so why not create something you truly love.

3. Quality – The quality of something which has been made bespoke will be of a much higher quality than from an average high street store. The craftmanship which goes into such items is second to none and the upmost care and consideration is taken over every design detail.

I hope this has given you a reason to explore bespoke options next time you need a new item for your home but if you are still unsure we are always here to offer free advice so please do give us a call on 01603 425333 or email me at louise@iwinteriors.co.uk
