A youth organisation which help youngsters take their first steps into the broadcasting world has expanded into its third studio.

Members of Suffolk and Norfolk Youth Action (SNYA) are becoming accustomed to their new surroundings at Woodshack Rehearsal Studios in Postmill Close, Wymondham, after following their move in the venue this month.

The group, which was formerly launched as South Norfolk Youth Action but was restructured after cuts to the youth service in Norfolk, opened its own internet radio channel two years ago at Long Stratton Leisure Centre.

Last year it expanded into a studio at EPIC TV centre, in Magdalen Street, Norwich.

The independently-run project receives financial support from E-clic and South Norfolk Council and is looking for sponsorship for its latest Wymondham venture.

Stephen Thomas, station co-ordinator, said: 'SNYA has always received great support from students at Wymondham High, Wymondham College, Attleborough High and Hethersett High schools.

'The problem that local students have experience in the past is that they have been unable to access our studios at Long Stratton and Norwich because of school finishing times and the schedule of the final bus home at night.

'With the opening of our Wymondham studio, we are now in the heart of the community we would expect to be able to work with even more young people.'

Mr Thomas said he was 'very pleased' with the interest shown by young people so far and would be hoping to increase the station's broadcasting times.

For a second year, SNYA's outdoor broadcasting team will be hitting the streets with Norfolk Constabulary and local councillors on Halloween night to produce live reports on events taking place in Wymondham, Diss and Harleston.

As well as talking to trick or treaters, presenters in the studio will be taking song requests and shout-outs from 4pm.
