Temperatures dropped to near freezing in Norwich overnight and the fog and mist created an atmospheric mood for photographers - and we have selected some of the best photos.
The region has seen a lot more of this weather phenomenon of the past few weeks and this has been caused by a mix of high pressure, low winds and clear skies which are the perfect conditions for fog and mist to form.
James Wilby, of Norwich-based forecaster Weatherquest said this was due to a number of reasons.
'With the cooling of land temperatures overnight by high pressure, this cools the air close to the surface and forms water droplets to form together which creates a cloud but instead of it being high in the sky it is close to the ground,' he said.
Many people use the terms mist and fog as much of the same but there is a difference between the two weather types.
Mr Wilby said: 'Mist and fog have the same features of water droplets in the air but it is classed as mist when visibility is further than 1km and it is classed as fog when it is less than 1km, that is the only different feature.'
These fine and settled conditions are set to stay with us until New Year's Eve but on New Year's Day the weather will become more unsettled with rain in the afternoon and cooler temperatures on Monday and Tuesday.
