Young Norfolk Arts Festival
The Young Norfolk Arts Festival (YNAF) is now approaching its sixth year of celebrations of creativity by young people for young people.
The festival takes place throughout June and July and provides plenty of opportunities in the region to see and take part in shows and workshops.
In 2017, the festival welcomed names such as War Horse author, Michael Morpurgo and The Hip-hop Shakespeare Company.
Since 2016, YNAF have invited young people to lead the promotion, delivery and reporting of festival events, offering a chance to meet artists, gain mentoring from industry professionals and get behind the scenes access to events.
Taylor Jones, a member of the 2017 communications team, said: “I am so glad to have been involved in the 2017 festival. I specialised in graphic design and worked on several great projects.
“Our communications team meet regularly to discuss plans for the events and train new skills.
“For anybody interested in the arts, the YNAF comms team is a chance for some invaluable new experiences and has made up a large part of my arts portfolio. I will definitely be back for more in 2018.”
Ruby Pinner, also a member of the 2017 communications team, said: “Being part of the team last year opened up so many amazing opportunities. Even though I initially applied wanting to improve my skills in writing and journalism, I gained valuable work experience in areas of the arts industry that I never thought of getting involved with before.
“I got the chance to speak on Future Radio, collect interviews from artists and manage social media posts. The 2017 festival hosted a wide variety of different art forms, from Indian dancing, to site-specific theatre, to a live reading of War Horse by Michael Morpurgo, who we also had the honour of meeting.
“I now feel I have a much better appreciation of what an exciting and diverse arts scene there is in Norfolk.”
