An international programme of zany comedy and music is promised for Great Yarmouth's third Out There festival.

Now the largest festival of street arts and circus in the region - having attracted more than 50,000 people last year - the core of the programme will take place in Great Yarmouth's St George's Park on September 18 and 19.

The free spectacular, organised by the town's SeaChange Arts charity, will bring performers from Ireland, Sweden, France and as far afield as Australia and New Zealand. Much of the French contingent results from SeaChange's involvement with the ZEPA partnership - an EU funded project partnering nine English and French festivals and producers to create and share tours, performers and expertise.

The highlight from across the Channel will be the English premier of a legendary street show called Bivouac, produced by Generik Vapeur and featuring pyrotechnics, a rock soundtrack and a team of blue-painted men.

'Its fantastic to have Generik Vapeur here,' said SeaChange chief executive Joe Mackintosh. 'They're one of the world's major street arts companies and we'll be working with them over the next few years to commission a new piece of work - a major coup for the festival.'

The French presence will also include a show combining a dynamic blend of dance and parkour called Fusion, showcasing the founders of the parkour phenomenon, Charles Perriere and Malik Diouf.

Irish act Tumble Circus turn circus tradition on its head with a breathtaking and hilarious trapeze act while New Zealand's Shay Hooray's facial contortions have earned him a place in the Guinness Book of Records.

From the UK, Skate Naked provide riotous street cabaret clad in nothing but their underwear while Granny Turismo deliver the world's only formation dance shopping-trolley team. The Great Dave is one of the nation's finest juggling unicyclists and there will also be the fabulous human-sized jukebox - Duke's Box.

Mr Mackintosh said: 'The aim of Out There is to provide something weird, wonderful and wacky, something people have never seen before, something truly out there! There's a little bit of that in Yarmouth's own personality and geographic location. We're slightly out there on the fringe and I think people here enjoy and celebrate that.'
