X-Factor stars JLS and Olly Murs could be set to help Norwich City Football Club in their quest to force their way back in amongst English football's elite.

"We will work through all the costing and give every spare penny we can to Paul Lambert."

The Canaries announced their second headline summer gig yesterday and already anticipation is hotting up for a gig that could well sell-out Carrow Road on Saturday June 11.

Boy band JLS and cheeky Essex lad Olly Murs will be in the city just three days after pop legend Rod Stewart is due to roll back the years on the same stage.

The concerts could provide some vital extra funds to hand Canaries boss Paul Lambert as the club try to gain promotion to the Premier League.

With City currently flying high in second place in the Championship table they could well have already achieved that by June, but either way the added income could prove a great boost.

Will Hoy, head of sales and marketing at Carrow Road, said: “With concerts like this and the Rod Stewart concert absolutely any spare profit, whether it is from tickets, merchandise or anything, every spare penny will go to Paul Lambert’s fund.

“We will work through all the costing and give every spare penny we can to Paul Lambert and having big concerts like this lined up in the summer will obviously be a big help.

“We’re absolutely delighted to have JLS and Olly Murs and the demand for the tickets straight away yesterday was absolutely incredible, so it has been great to get them.

“Currently we have got around 20,000 tickets available and if we can make more standing available and it comes to it that there is the demand, we will look at the safety issues and everything to see if we can provide more.”

The club are hoping to add some other acts to the bill as well, but as yet they do not know who that will be.

With the recent announcement of September’s Norfolk Spectacular at the Norfolk Showground, with stars such as Tinie Tempah and N-Dubz, it is shaping up to be an exciting summer for music lovers.

Mr Hoy continued: “At the moment our arrangement is with the promoters to add some more acts to the bill but that is yet to be confirmed so I really don’t know who that could be.

“We have JLS who have just been hugely successful and we have Olly Murs, so that is great in the first instance.

“It might be more X-Factor acts or it might be more local acts, all will be announced in due course.”

UK chart sensations and double Brit Award winners JLS - made up of Aston, Marvin, JB and Oritse - finished as runners-up behind Alexandra Burke in the 2008 competition of the popular television talent and have gone on to have four number one singles in the charts.

Mr Murs was runner-up in the 2009 X-Factor and went straight in at number one with his debut single Please Don’t Let Me Go last year.

Tickets went on sale for £32.50 at 9am this morning but are not currently available direct from the football club - for details see.....

Infants under five years old are not permitted and under-14s must be accompanied by an adult over 18 years old, with a maximum of four under-14s in the care of one Adult.

Gates will open at 4pm on the day with the concert starting at around 6.30pm and finishing at approximately 9.45pm.
