Parents of children whose yobbish behaviour has been making life a misery for families living on the outskirts of Norwich have been urged by police to take more responsibility.

Parents of children whose yobbish behaviour has been making life a misery for families living on the outskirts of Norwich have been urged by police to take more responsibility.

Police in Wymondham are clamping down on the increased youth related anti-social behaviour in the area but have issued a plea to parents for help.

There have been a number of times in recent weeks when youngsters causing anti-social behaviour in the area have been escorted home by police.

Officers gave words of advice to the young people and parents were informed about their youngsters misbehaving - and urged to take more responsibility for their actions.

Alcohol related anti-social behaviour has also been an issue in the neighbourhood where police are continuing to seize alcohol from under-18s.

Wymondham Safer Neighbourhood Team (SNT) has been working closely with licensed premises to prevent youngsters getting their hands on alcohol.

Wymondham Insp James Brown said: “We will not tolerate inappropriate behaviour in the town and those causing it will be dealt with by local officers. The SNT will continue to carry out extra targeted patrols in the town centre to reassure the community.

“We are asking parents to help and be aware of where their children are going and what they are doing, as parents have the responsibility for their children's behaviour especially when it affects the wider community. Young people should also be conscious that if they get a criminal record it will affect their opportunities in the future.”

If members of the community have information about any inappropriate behaviour impacting on their quality of life should report it to the police. To contact Wymondham SNT call 0845 456 4567 or email sntwymondham@norfolk.pnn.police.uk
