The wonders of Wroxham are being beamed live and in high definition to people across the globe thanks to webcams which are broadcasting from the Broads town 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Two venues in Wroxham have signed up to the scheme, which is designed as another option to sell tourist hot spots to potential holiday makers on the internet.

Hotel Wroxham and boating company Barnes Brinkcraft, both based on the banks of Wroxham Broad, have both signed up to the scheme in an effort to pull in some more tourists.

Operations manager at Hotel Wroxham, Quinton Haverson, says lots of customers have commented on the cameras. He said: 'It all helps in promoting Wroxham and showing the area in its best light, so it's a good idea.

'It's nice to watch the boats going by and you can even use it to judge what the weather is like here before you leave or see how busy our decking is at the hotel.'

Yard manager of Barnes Brinkcraft, Sam Lowe, also added: 'We have had a great response to our Norfolklive camera. For example, customers with a private mooring are able to keep an eye on their boat when they are not out enjoying the Broads and customers who have hired a boat for a holiday can see it being prepared before they arrive.'

Norfolk-based web designers www.innershed.com have launched the webcam business to support local tourism through its website, www.norfolklive.org.

Ross Clabburn, managing director of the web company, said: 'NorfolkLive.org was created to allow visitors, tourists and locals to be able to see the beautiful county of Norfolk and the Norfolk Broads from anywhere in the world.'
