A woman has been jailed for two months for stealing �20,000 in cash from the care home where she worked as a cleaner.
Marilyn Glover, 53, of Back Lane, Mattishall, had been an employee at Mattishall Health Care for 21 years but was jailed yesterday after admitting to a series of thefts while at work.
Martyn Ivory, prosecuting at Norwich Crown Court, said that in June 2007 money started to go missing from a dispensary cash box at the home and in the weeks that Glover was not working no money had been lost.
She was arrested on suspicion of theft in June last year and later admitted her crimes to police.
While not at work Glover acted as a carer for her elderly parents with whom she lives. Rebecca Wastall, defending, said: 'She pays the everyday bills and knows nothing else except her home and her job.' Glover said that she stole the money because she could not afford to live on what the care home had paid her.
