A Norfolk woman is following in her father’s cycle tracks following his cancer diagnosis.

Fran Heaney, from Norwich, will cycle more than 120 miles from Great Ormond Street Hospital in London to Norwich, 22 years after her father completed the same route.

In 1986 Tony Pasque raised £13,000 in honour of his daughter Lauren Pasque, shortly before she lost her cancer battle.

Now Mrs Heaney and a group of nine others, including her two brothers, are completing the sponsored ride for the James Paget Hospital, where Mr Pasque is receiving chemotherapy.

Ms Heaney said: “I think the initial shock of dad’s diagnosis will spur us all on. There’s nothing that could give us more determination.

“Knowing he did it all those years ago is a huge boost. He jokes that back then they didn’t have fancy bikes - one lady did it on a bike with a basket on the front!

“You think of those people and it gets you through.”

the ride.
