Fresh from the Orchard Recording Studios in Cambridge, this week after an all day session, Going Out caught up with the lads from Killamonjambo, who are returning to Norwich to headline a show at Epic on July 21.

It's been a busy time for the popular six-piece — made up of Pete (drums), Bramley (trumpet), Jonny (sax), Kurney (bass), Jamie (vocals) and Frank (guitar) — who are famed for their high energy performances.

They banged out two live tracks which will be available in a couple of weeks from the studio and will play tomorrow at the Riverside Festival in Stamford.

Out of 700 bands that applied, they have been selected to headline the main stage at this one-day 17,000 capacity festival.

The Ultrazang event in Norwich on July 21 will feature five singers and bands, burlesque dancers and a fire display. The whole event will be streamed live to a worldwide audience from Epic TV, Norwich's newest performance venue based in Magdalen Street. Epic's last streamed event featuring James Toseland and The Rainband saw more than 22,000 people tune in for a live show.

You're playing in front of 17,000 at Riverside – how does that feel?

Jonny: The bigger the better.

Tell us what it's like to play to a Norwich audience?

Pete: We've been lucky enough over the last five or so years to have gathered a loyal, sexy audience that come to our shows to support us. Norwich is the hub and our favourite place to play.

What can people expect with the Ultrazang event?

Bramley: Ultra-Zang does exactly what it says on the tin, 'ultra and zing'!

Jonny: Also you can expect a burlesque dancer, different genres of music in a surprisingly original setting.

Have you added new songs to the repertoire?

Jonny: We are always writing new material and we never want to be tied down to one genre, so yes we have.

What's in the pipeline for releases?

Pete: The plan is to release our first album early next year. We're really excited about this. Also in the pipeline is a series of new music videos.

What's the funniest thing that happened to you on the tour?

Jonny: OST, our tour buddies, and us ending up after a night on moonshine in a basement full of restored vintage cars, bent over a full size roulette table naked, seeing who could spank one another the hardest.

Who've you added to your iPod recently?

Jonny: SBTRKT, Portico Quartet. Bramley: Imelda May, Die Antwoord, Molotov Jukebox.

Pete: Black Keys, The First Pixies Album.

Kurney: The Tadeschki Trucks Band

Jamie: Alexisonfire.

Frank: JS Bach and The Venga Boys.
