People in Norfolk have been warned not to fall for a telephone scam where criminals try to trick people into passing over their credit card details.

The warning was issued by Norfolk trading standards after learning of the con, which sees people telephoned by a person advising they are calling from the Security and Fraud Department at Visa/Mastercard and that their cards have been flagged for an unusual purchase pattern.
They go on to ask whether people purchased an anti-telemarketing device from a company in London.
When the person they have called replies 'no', the caller advises they will issue a credit to their account.
They then go on to confirm the address of their intended victim and suggest they contact the 0800 number on your card.
But they then confirm their targets are in possession of the card by verifying the last three of the seven numbers on the back of the card.
People are not asked for their card number, only to verify the information they already have.
