A popular caf bar in Norwich city centre will soon be closed and refurbished as a vodka bar after its entrepreneurial Norfolk owner sold the building to a nationwide chain.

Orgasmic, which is located on Queen Street, between Redwell Street and Upper King Street, will close its doors on May 31 and is expected to reopen in August as a Revolution bar.

Its owner, Laura Knight, who is based in Holt, has sold the Orgasmic caf chain she started in 2001, which also includes branches in York and Lincoln, to Inventive Leisure Ltd, owners of the Revolution chain.

She will now focus on running what she hopes will be her fourth successful business, ASE Security, her others being Orgasmic Wines, which was sold to Virgin Wines, and clothing swap website www.looksbetteronyou.com.

Mrs Knight said: 'I think Inventive Leisure Ltd has been looking to get into Norwich for quite some time, and are planning to open it in August after refurbishing it.

'I do feel a bit sad about it in a way because Orgasmic was my baby - I started it from scratch and the premises in Norwich had been offices previously - but it's a great opportunity for me. I got a good offer and I had been doing it for 10 years, so I thought it was time to try something different.

'I won't disclose the price being paid for the business but it is very positive news for Norwich and the economy as it demonstrates that businesses in the hospitality sector, in the right location, can still command high prices and large national companies want a presence in our city.

'We have been buying security for a very long time and haven't been particularly happy with what we have bought, so I think there is a gap in the market.'

ASE security - at www.asesecurity.co.uk - which now has 12 employees and is growing fast, was launched last year by Mrs Knight and three friends, who are working with security experts.

It offers a comprehensive range of security services from guarding through to installation, maintenance and monitoring of alarm and CCTV systems to secure cleaning and security training.
