A man woke up to find his housemate dead at the end of his bed, an inquest has heard.

Vincent Culyer, 50, was found slumped on a blue stool at the end of Leonard Norton's bed in Burges Road, Norwich, on Thursday, March 8 2018.

Mr Norton woke up at 11am and saw Mr Culyer at the end of his bed. Thinking he was asleep Mr Norton went back to bed.

He woke up at 4.55pm to find Mr Culyer still at the end of his bed. He then realised Mr Culyer was dead when he was cold to the touch.

Mr Culyer was dependent on opioids and was a known drug and heroin user to the Norfolk Recovery Partnership. He had been prescribed opioid substitutes to help his high tolerance but refused psychological help.

The inquest heard from his GP that from 2013 he had accidentally overdosed six times every year until his death.

Assistant coroner Johanna Thompson gave the cause of death as drug related.
