Emergency services were called to the scene of the crash just after 7pm, which saw two cars plunge into water-filled ditches.

Fire crews from Acle, Great Yarmouth, the fire service rescue boat team from Carrow and paramedics were called out to the accident.

Police closed the road in both directions betwen the Acle roundabout and the A12 following the accident and motorists were asked to follow an alternative route.

A police spokesman said: 'The Acle Straight remains closed as emergency services clear the road of debris to make it safe, carry out initial investigations into the collision and recovery of the vehicles can take place. Anyone who witnessed the collision should contact police on 101.'
