Trees are to be planted alongside roads in four Norfolk villages as part of a �70,000 trial based on the theory that drivers slow down if their side views are restricted.
The scheme, in Martham, Horstead, Mundesley and Overstrand will involve a range of native trees, including oak, field maple, birch and hornbeam being planted later this month.
It is the latest initiative in a two-year �1.5m project, sponsored by the Department for Transport, to try out new ways of controlling speed in the Norfolk countryside.
