The girlfriend of a 'beautiful and bright' 19-year-old student who died after suffering an epileptic seizure at Easton College is spearheading a fundraising drive in his memory to try to help other people.

Oliver Scott-Greenard, from Ormesby St Margaret, died on November 29 last year at the agricultural college, near Norwich, where he had been a student since September 2011.

An inquest held into his death at Norwich heard the teenager, who was diagnosed with epilepsy in 2006, had suffered a seizure on November 23 last year – just a few days before his death. A post mortem examination stated the cause of death to be aspiration due to epilepsy.

The tragedy has prompted Mr Scott-Greenard's girlfriend, Alex Gough, also 19, to keep his memory alive – and help others – by raising money through a so-called Sunflower Tribute Fund, which supports the Epilepsy Action charity. Miss Gough, who is from Lowestoft but is currently studying business at Kingston University in London, said: 'We set up a fund for Epilepsy Action to do something nice to remember Ollie, but also for others who have epilepsy so they don't have to go through what we've gone through.'

The fund, which was set up in December last year, has so far raised more than 2,000 through a number of initiatives and the sale of 1 Sunflower badges in shops, including the Mocha coffee shop in Great Yarmouth and the fish and chip shop Mr Scott-Greenard worked at in Ormesby St Margaret.

The initiative was praised by Norfolk Coroner William Armstrong, who recorded a verdict that Mr Scott-Greenard died as a result of natural causes, but added that epilepsy was the fundamental underlying cause of his tragic death.

Speaking at the inquest, Mr Scott-Greenard's mother Thomasina said her son, who has been head boy at Flegg High School, was a 'bright, beautiful loving boy who is greatly, greatly missed'.
