Heavy rainfall threatens to postpone repair work on Carrow Bridge.

The work to prolong the life of the timber deck on the bridge was due to take place on Sunday and Monday evenings.

But the weather forecast for the weekend has suggested that there is a risk of heavy showers which could force a last-minute postponement.

A final decision on whether to press ahead with the work will be taken at Sunday lunchtime as the work cannot be carried out in the wet.

If it goes ahead as planned, the road across the bridge will be reduced to a single lane, controlled by temporary traffic lights, from 4.30pm on Sunday, August 3 until 6am on Monday, August 4 and from 7.30pm on Monday, August 4 until 6pm on Tuesday, August 5.

The planned work will be carried out by Norfolk County Council's P&T Partnership and will cost about £2,000.
