For the attention of city councillors. When the plans for the rebuilding of Anglia Square come before you, please consider the citizens of north Norwich very carefully.
A scheme to build over 1,200 apartments, mostly one-or-two-bedroom, in several very large blocks of between six and 12 storeys, not to mention the 25-storey tower, will not provide much-needed family housing for this part of the city.
The very mean 10pc 'affordable' housing will not be built until the fourth stage of development; this means they may never be built at all. Most of these apartments will be bought as 'buy-to-rent' by landlords as investments.
At least when the despised Anglia Square was built, it brought jobs and prosperity to Norwich. This new scheme will merely line the pockets of the developers and landowners, for whom everything above the fourth storey is profit.
Is this monstrous development what you wish to impose on the people who elected you in the recent local election?
