Steal the style of a celebrity is back! This month Life Matters reader Emma Scotcher wants to get the stylish but laid back look of her style icon Elle MacPherson. Emma Harrowing helps her get the look.

When Elle MacPherson appears on Britain's Next Top Model she looks effortlessly glamorous with tousled hair and body con dress. But then even when she is papped when she is not working and is spending time with her children she still keeps her stylish and sophisticated air even if she is just wearing jeans and a top.

Emma Scotcher from Thorpe longs to learn the secret to Elle MacPherson's style especially as the 33-year-old is a new mum and is finding that she is having less time to get ready in the mornings.

Says Emma: 'I love the way Elle MacPherson looks as if she has just got out of bed and thrown an outfit on. She always looks naturally stylish.'

Looking like you have just run your fingers through your hair and put on the first items of clothing that springs to your fingertips in the morning actually does take time, but most of this time is down to planning.

An organised wardrobe is the key. If all your tops, bottoms, skirts and dresses are in coordinating colours you can practically grab anything out of your wardrobe as you will know that it will create a stylish outfit.

Makeup

Elle MacPherson is known for her love of natural skincare products and so a trip to Aveda in Jarrold is the perfect place for Emma to complete her look.

Aveda consultant Susie is on hand to give Emma a natural makeup look.

Says Susie: 'Aveda is one of the most eco-friendly skincare and makeup ranges available using a high percentage of organic ingredients, all of which can be traced back to source so you know exactly where the ingredients in the products come from. The makeup range is made from natural ingredients and is free of mineral oils and animal ingredients, for example the majority of lipsticks available in the shops contain carmine which gives the lipstick its colour – carmine is crushed beetles! The Aveda lipsticks and glosses are carmine free.'

For the base

After cleansing and moisturising Emma's skin using Aveda's Green Science range, a tinted moisturiser was applied to Emma's face using a foundation brush to give a light and even coverage. Susie used Aveda Inner Light Tinted Moisturiser in Sweet Tea. Apply your foundation by working from your nose out towards your hairline.

Cover any blemishes and dark circles under the eyes and around the nose and mouth with concealer. Susie used Aveda's Inner Light concealer in Hazelnut.

For the cheeks

Now that you have a flawless face, add colour using a bronzer or a blusher. Susie used Aveda's Petal Esscene Face Accents a palette of three shades that can be used on their own or individually. Apply blusher using a brush to the apples of your cheeks and blend upwards and outwards towards your hairline.

For the eyes

Choose a neutral colour palette for your eyes which has a dark, medium and light shade. Susie used Aveda's Petal Essence eye colour in Twilight. First apply the lighter shade (Susie used a pale pink) over the eye lid, then apply the mid shade over the top. Next Susie mixed the darker eye shadow shade with Aveda's Colour Options eye shadow transformer, a liquid that changes powder eye shadow into a cream eye shadow or eye liner and which makes your eye shadow last longer. This was applied with an eye liner brush along the top lash line and blended onto the outer corner of the eye lid.

To frame the eyes take a dark brown eye shadow and apply it to your eye brows to define. Susie used Aveda's Petal Essence eye colour in Gobi Sands.

Finish the eyes with brown mascara. Susie used Aveda's Mosscara conditioning mascara which contains Iceland moss.

For the lips

Keep your lips looking plump, pink and natural with a natural pink lip gloss. Susie used Aveda's lip liner to outline and define Emma's lips before applying a coat of Aveda's lip shine over the lips.

The verdict

Says Emma: 'Although I couldn't have the colour of my hair changed I'm pleased with my new look. My hair looks and feels glossy and soft and I love the beachy effect the waves have created which is similar to Elle MacPherson's style.

'I love the outfit as it makes me feel stylish, but it is comfortable to wear. I can also dress the look up with heels or down with flats to change the look from day to night.

'I don't usually wear this much makeup, but it doesn't feel cakey on my skin in fact it feels so light that I don't feel like I'm wearing any makeup at all!

'I think I have definitely got Elle MacPherson's style.'
