Cinderella swapped the pantomime for playtime when she paid a visit to a south Norfolk school this week.

Ruth Betteridge, who plays the title role in Norwich Theatre Royal's pantomime Cinderella, officially opened an outdoor area at Attleborough Infant School yesterday.

The new area has been built for the reception year children at the school and will give the youngsters the opportunity to improve their development in music, sports and creative arts by allowing them to learn outside.

Headteacher Lucy Wayman said: 'The work was finished just before Christmas.

'It's split up into three parts - a physical area with a climbing frame, a den building area with a kitchen and garden area.

'The children were all very excited to see Cinderella as many of them had been to the theatre.'

Ms Betteridge is currently starring as Cinderella alongside Three Degrees songstress Sheila Ferguson who plays the Fairy Godmother, Christopher Ryan who appears as Baron Hardup and Matt Milburn aka Prince Charming.

She said it was a pleasure to officially open the new equipment.

'It's nice to get out in the community, I have been meeting a lot of people while the pantomime has been on. It's nice to get out of the theatre sometimes and see more of Norfolk, it's interesting.'
