A teenage fundraiser has donated the proceeds of her efforts to an end-of-life care centre in Norwich.

Hannah Melton, 15, of Catton Grove, led an appeal to raise money for patients receiving care at the Priscilla Bacon Centre on Unthank Road and donated the proceeds last week.

She decided to organise the appeal last year to support the patients and staff as her aunt and godmother Nicky Barrett, who was diagnosed with cancer, received care from the service before passing away in 2006.

She said: 'I am excited to be handing over the donations and I am very thankful that so many people helped me to achieve such a large amount of money. It is far more than I had hoped for.

'I would really like to thank my family, members of the public and local celebrities and businesses for their donations.'

The appeal was supported by more than 30 different companies and individuals who donated a range of gifts which were either sold online or given away as raffle prizes.

These included match tickets donated by Norwich City Football Club, signed gifts from local celebrity Stephen Fry, grandstand tickets with paddock passes to both Newmarket and Great Yarmouth races, and a Track Day at the Lotus Driving Academy at Hethel, Norfolk.

Hannah also collected donations from shoppers in Norwich and arranged for a percentage of money raised during her school's non-uniform day to go towards the appeal.

'I really enjoyed the fundraising day I had at the Castle Mall but I also enjoyed very much the Charity Christmas Party we had. Both of those events were fun and raised lots of money,' she added.

The money will be used to enhance the experiences of patients using the services at Priscilla Bacon Centre, funding things such as additional equipment for patients or specialist training for staff. The fund could also be used for resources like art supplies for the art therapy sessions or snacks and refreshments for patients.
