Colleagues at Sainsbury's, Pound Lane in Thorpe St Andrew, held a festive fundraiser to support their local charity of the year, Beat.

Volunteers from Beat, Norwich, were in store and staff assisted the charity with a Christmas grand tombola to raise funds for the charity, which supports anyone affected by an eating disorder. Almost all of the tombola prizes were donated by store colleagues and the event raised £250.

Beat has been partnered with Sainsbury's, Pound Lane since July 2017 and to date has raised £1,727.36 in store.

Jason Symonds, store manager, said: 'Christmas is a time for giving and our customers and colleagues get really excited about showing support for our charity and getting stuck into some great fundraising activities. This month marks the midway point in our partnership with Beat, a charity who supports people with eating disorders and we're pleased to be giving the charity a boost as we approach Christmas.'

Andrea Auburn, community fundraising officer at Beat, said: 'We'd like thank everyone at Sainsbury's Pound Lane and their customers for their generosity so far. We enjoyed being in store at such an exciting time of the year and all of the money we raise will make a huge difference to our charity.'

Beat was chosen by customers as the store's local charity of the year in the summer and will continue to receive support through fundraising and awareness raising in the new year.
