It is your last chance to nominate your community heroes for this year's Stars of Norfolk and Waveney Awards.

You have until Friday to give the unsung heroes in your community the chance to receive the regional recognition they deserve.

The awards celebrate the selfless and brave who go the extra mile for others and have an extraordinary impact on their communities.

Often such people's inspiring actions go unnoticed, but now is your chance to make sure these regional heroes get the credit they deserve.

We have already received heaps of nominations, but it is not too late to suggest your star and give them a chance to be acknowledged for their outstanding contributions.

There are 13 categories in total, recognising teams, individuals, youths and emergency service workers.

To give your stars the chance to shine, all you need to do is complete a nomination from, detailing the name of the person or group with a 50 word explanation of why you think they deserve an award.

Director of Parker Communications and organiser of this year's event, Ros Parker, has encouraged readers to make sure their voice is heard.

She said: 'This is a marvellous community awards ceremony that recognises all the unsung heroes that we know are out there, but we never really hear about.

'It can be somebody who has been quietly beavering away in the community for years, or it can be somebody who is a little bit more high profile than that, but we welcome all nominations.'

The night will be filled with food, drinks and awards, with winners receiving individually tailored prizes from the judges.

In previous years, the awards night has overflowed with tears and cheers of gratitude from both the winners and the members of the communities they have served.

Editor-in-chief of the EDP, David Powles, said: 'Everyone will know a group or someone who does extraordinary things for the people around them.

'Well, what better to do than to sing about their achievements by nominating them for a deserved award? We've had a great response, but we'd love more.'

It only takes a few minutes for the form to be filled in online at www.edp24.co.uk/stars or sent to Marc Betts, Prospect House, Rouen Road, Norwich, NR1 1RE.
